FANS descended on the new Pompey megastore to meet players when they held a signing session.
Yesterday afternoon, Trevor Carson, Gavin Mahon, Ryan Bird and Therry Racon were at the recently-opened Pompey store to sign autographs and have their pictures taken with the fans.
The new store opened a couple of weeks ago and is kitted out with a range of Pompey merchandise that fans bought to be signed by the players.
One fan, seven-year-old Luke Fassam, was in Portsmouth staying with his grandparents for half-term while his dad is in Afghanistan.
He is a big Pompey fan, despite living in Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire, where his dad is based.
He said: ‘I had a really good day and I liked meeting all the players.
‘I don’t have a favourite Pompey player so it has been good meeting them all.
‘This has been my favourite day of the half-term.’
Luke was at the store with his grandparents.
His grandad, Pete, said: ‘We were down here earlier getting Luke a Pompey shirt when we were told the players would be doing a signing.
‘We have been looking after him while his mum works and his dad is in Afghanistan so it was good for him to be able to meet the players while down here. He was so excited.’
And the players were equally excited to meet the fans.
Midfielder Therry Racon said: ‘It was a really good day and I am always happy to meet the fans in events like this.
‘We have had a really good turnout and it is important to do signing sessions for the fans so they can meet the players.’
Store manager, Laura Conway, was pleased with the turnout and is looking forward to doing it again for Christmas.
She said: ‘It was a really great day and the fans have had a good time meeting the players.’
