BROWNIES have received a letter from Buckingham Palace thanking them for a special scrapbook they sent to the Queen.

The scrapbook was put together by the 1st Farlington Brownies to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, and to also commemorate their own 60 year anniversary this year.

The youngsters wrote a letter to go into the scrapbook as well as filling it with pictures and news articles before sending it to the Queen.

And they held a special sleepover weekend at Sandy Acres, near Wickham, with the Gosport Viking Explorers earlier in the summer to mark their own Diamond anniversary.

The girls raised the £1,000 needed for this event themselves.

Anita Peddell, the group’s Brown Owl, said: ‘The scrap book was lovely, I almost didn’t want to give it up.

‘And we had a brilliant weekend away together.’
