A FAMILY’S playhouse was destroyed after someone set fire to their garden fence.

Fareham firefighters were called to St Michael’s Grove, Fareham, at 2.40am today after a passer-by saw flames coming from a fence panel at the back of a garden.

By the time they arrived the fire had spread and destroyed a wooden playhouse near the panel.

Firefighters woke up a couple living in the house and told them what happened.

Watch manager Simon Bates said: ‘This was an act of vandalism.

‘We used a hose reel jet to put out the flames but the fence and a playhouse near it was completely destroyed.

‘We woke up the owners and gave them some fire safety advice.

‘Unfortunately we were unable to find out who caused this to happen.’
