Ferry firm lend a hand

A CHRISTMAS concert will be bought to life with the use of a real ship’s bell.

The Highbury Area Band, based in Cosham, will be performing its annual concert this Sunday. However, the event usually involves a ship’s bell, which the band were without, so Wightlink Ferries jumped in and gave it to percussionist Connor Lyster.

Richard Horn, musical director and employee at Wightlink, said: ‘Our musicians have been practising hard for their concert.

‘They are delighted we have secured a real ship’s bell for the afternoon because it will make a real difference.’

The concert is at the Church of the Resurrection, in Drayton, at 3pm.
