Fight the flab and help the animals at Stubbington Ark

AS PART of the celebrations to mark its 25th anniversary year, a local animal shelter is encouraging people to take part in a sponsored slim.

To tie up with the 25th theme, slimming groups and animal lovers are being encouraged to lose 25 stones collectively, 25lbs or 2st 5lbs for the Stubbington Ark.

Vanessa Eden, head of fundraising at the shelter on Ranvilles Lane, Stubbington, said: ‘If you feel like you need to shed some weight then why not take part in our sponsored slim and pile off the pounds for the charity?

‘You can support the challenge as a group or lose weight as an individual.

‘You can ask your friends, family and work colleagues to sponsor you for every pound of weight you lose.

‘Just send us your name and address and we will send you a slimming pack that includes some basic exercises. All you have to lose is your weight and regain the figure you have always wanted.’

The Stubbington Ark covers the largest area of any shelter in the country with a catchment of 400sq miles and it costs £3,000 a day to keep the centre running.

It receives no funding from the RSPCA but relies totally on the generosity of the general public.

To take part in the sponsored slim and receive a weight-loss pack contact Vanessa Eden on (01329) 666916 or email her at vanessaeden@rspca-solent.org.uk

Anyone considering rehoming an animal from the Ark should contact (01329) 667541.
