LIBRARY visitors will be able to get a sneak preview of a new TV drama based on the creator of Sherlock Holmes.

An exhibition looking at the same cases as Arthur & George, based on the detective investigations of Arthur Conan Doyle, begins at Southsea Library on February 26.

A selection of costumes from the new show, in which Martin Clunes plays Conan Doyle, will be on display alongside a host of artefacts from the Conan Doyle collection.

As well as creating Sherlock Holmes, Conan Doyle had his own successes solving cases. While they are not widely known, the library is offering the opportunity for anyone wanting to learn more.

Cllr Linda Symes, cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport, said: ‘Everyone knows about Sherlock Holmes but not many people know Conan Doyle was a shrewd detective himself.’
