FIRE crews from Southsea and Horndean were called to help tackle a blaze in a Petersfield school.

A fire broke out in the woodwork shop at the Bedales School, in Church Street, Petersfield, just before 10.30pm last night.

Crews from Peterfield, Horndean, Liphook and Bordon attended.

The fire was out around an hour later. Firefighters used eight breathing apparatus, eight hose reels and two jets to put out the blaze.

The multi-role vehicle from Havant also attended to support crews.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is unknown and officers are investigating.

Bedales is a co-educational independent school. Past pupils include triple Oscar winner Daniel Day Lewis.
