FIREFIGHTERS were called to help a man out of his flat when he fell ill.

Medics called on firefighters, from Southsea fire station, to assist in helping a man who had injured his back from the third floor of a property in Sultan Road, Buckland, Portsmouth, at 1.30pm yesterday.

Paramedics had been unable to carry the large man down a spiral staircase.

Firefighters removed the front window and put the stretcher on an aerial ladder and into the ambulance.
