A CO-OP store and post office, which was severely damaged by fire, will be closed for the foreseeable future.

As reported, the blaze started on Monday at about 8.30am in a ground-floor store room at the shop in The Square, Westbourne.

Two fire engines from Havant and one from Chichester tackled the fire.

The store will be closed for the foreseeable future but in the meantime, The Southern Co-operative (TSC) said it will provide a free coach service for its customers to shop at its neighbouring store in Emsworth, which will run daily except Sundays.

No-one was hurt in the fire, and it is not yet known what caused it.
