Eleven fire crews from Waterlooville, Havant, Fareham, Cosham and Southsea attended the blaze.

The fire was under control by 11.30pm, although crews are still on the scene this morning making sure it does not reignite.

The smoke could be seen from five miles away.

The barn, which contained hay, has suffered considerable damage.

No animals were in the barn and nobody was injured during the fire.

Firefighters worked through the night to make sure the fire did not spread to nearby fields and outbuildings.
