POLICE cars and fire engines have descended on a school field for a training exercise.
The News received calls from parents this morning after several emergency vehicles turned up at Morelands Primary School, in Crookhorn Lane, Crookhorn.
A smoking metal object was ‘found’ shortly after 6am today on the playing fields.
Parents received a text to say that there had been a suspicious fire on the school playing fields, but that the scene was safe and it was safe for children to come to school.
Hampshire Police confirmed the incident was a mock exercise organised by the school as part of a lesson.
Police spokeswoman Hazel Wills said: ‘It’s definitely just an exercise. The school are holding a literacy event and have a murder mystery type incident.
Two PCSOs are helping out to make it look more realistic.’
