HAMPSHIRE Fire and Rescue has beaten national average statistics for its performance this year.
In its annual report for 2010/11 the service performed better than the national average on all but one measure.
At an authority meeting the director of corporate services, David Howells, said: ‘We have continued to drive down the number of incidents we attend across the board with just one exception – and that’s the number of chimney fires.’
The service said it thinks the recent trend in opening up fireplaces could be a reason for the sole increase. Visit hantsfire.gov.uk/hfrsplan-yearlyreport to see the report.
