Fire service award for deer rescue

Firefighters who rescued a deer after it got trapped on an icy pond have been given an award.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service will receive a Hero to Animals Award from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Foundation.

As reported, rescuers used an inflatable path to reach the deer on ice off Boarhunt Road, Fareham.

They will receive a framed certificate and a letter of appreciation.
