HAMPSHIRE fire service is set to go into partnership with three others to save money.

Devon and Somerset, Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire fire and rescue services will form the Networked Fire Control Services Partnership (NFCSP).

Together, the fire services’ have signed an eight-year contract with Capita to provide control and a communications system.

Dave Curry, chairman of the NFCSP strategic board, said: ‘Because all four fire and rescue services will have the same technology, it will give us far greater resilience.

‘If one service is under pressure, one of the others will be able to provide support.

‘This system will allow us to work together more effectively than we do at the moment, and that can only be good for public and firefighter safety.’
