DIRTY cars can get a hosing by firefighters in uniform with water from of an engine on Sunday.

The car wash has been organised to raise money for local street dance group, 2nd 2 Nun, to send them to a European competition in Denmark.

The dancers qualified for the finals of the IDO European Hip Hop, Electric Boogie and Breakdance Championships after impressing judges at London’s O2 Arena and ranking fourth in the UK.

But the group needs to raise around £7,000 to get there and hope the help of the Southsea fire crew could send them soaring towards that figure.

They have already collected around £3,000 through a sponsored waxing event, fancy dress cycle from Havant to Southampton and a party with a raffle.

And hope to organise various bag packing events in supermarkets across the area in a bid to reach their target.

Gareth Smith, 34, of Cuthbert Road, Fratton, who runs the group, said: ‘Everyone’s really looking forward to it, hopefully we can get enough money to send them all there.’

The event will take place from 10am to 4pm in B&Q’s car park on Fratton Way, Fratton.
