FIREFIGHTERS were called to Portsmouth Naval Base after hydraulic fuel was spilled.

Five firefighters and a senior officer from Southsea fire station were called to the site this morning at around 8.40am.

About 20 litres of fluid from a lorry had been spilled inside the base.

The scene was made safe and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service handed control over to the Royal Navy.
