FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze in the open in Portsmouth yesterday afternoon.

Two appliances from Southsea fire station were called to the fire which had started within Ashling Lane in North End at 12.06pm.

The fire had been started by a bonfire but it had got out of control. Nobody was hurt in the incident.

Meanwhile, the fire station will be opening its doors to the public by holding an open day on Saturday in Somers Road from 10am until 4pm.
