FIREFIGHTERS attended a small blaze at an empty building in Eastney tonight.

The Southsea crew was called to the old naval base, off Fort Cumberland Road, at 5.37pm today.

A resident living nearby said it was around the eighth fire to be started in the last two months at the building.

‘It has been a problem for a while but no-one is doing anything to deter people from starting these fires,’ he said.

A spokesman from the fire service said they were unaware of a particular problem.

As previously reported in The News, police have had to remove young people from the site.
