SIX people had to be rescued after they became trapped in a hotel lift in the early hours of yesterday.

Firefighters from Southsea were called out to the Etap Hotel, in Fratton Way, Fratton, at 4.30am.

They swiftly worked to release the group of six people from the elevator.

Later that day, firefighters from Cosham were called out to deal with a smoking oven after it had been left on by accident.

They cleared the smoke at the house in Merton Avenue, Portchester, yesterday at 11.10am.
