THREE people had to be rescued from a lift when it broke down.

Fire crews from Cosham went to Phoenix Court, in Outram Road, Southsea, at 12.45pm yesterday.

They rescued one man and two women from the elevator, which had become stuck between the second and third floor of the residential flats.

They were freed by 1pm.

A fire crew from Cosham also helped South Central Ambulance Service to get into a flat in Knowsley Road, Cosham, at 2.30pm.
