Firefighters saved a prized car from destruction after a suspected arson attack in Cosham.

Crews from Cosham fire station were called to Lonsdale Avenue at around 3am today.

A shed at the end of a garden was on fire which spread to a garage containing a classic Morris Minor car, which firefighters managed to save.

It is believed the fire was suspicious and an investigation into the cause has been launched by Hampshire Fire and Rescue and Hampshire PoliceFirefighters were on the scene for two hours.

Police were called by the fire service at 3.48am.

A number of garage fires have been reported in the area in recent months.
