A WOMAN in Gosport has been rescued from a lift after a technical fault left her trapped in it.

The 35-year-old was left stranded in the lift for 15 minutes before the alert was raised.

The incident took place at Ark Royal House, in Blanchard Avenue, shortly before 7.30pm this evening.

Two fire crews from Gosport were called to rescue her. They used specialist equipment to open the lift doors and release her.

Elsewhere, a fire crew from Havant was called to extinguish a blaze in a bin shed.

The fire was reported at about the same time in the evening.

Initially, two crews were called to tackle the blaze, in Prospect Road.

However, the second team was stood down after the fire team extinguished the fire.

This team used a high-pressure water hose to quell the flames and a thermal imaging cameras to check the surrounding area.
