FIREFIGHTERS have extinguished a blaze at a tanning salon in Portsmouth.

More than a dozen firefighters were called to the incident, at the Consol tanning studio, in Elm Grove, Southsea this morning.

The alarm was raised at 11.39am, with two crews from Southsea fire station and a third from Cosham rushing to the scene.

They used two breathing apparatuses, a hose reel and ultra high-pressure lance to combat the blaze, which was extinguished just minutes ago, a fire service spokesman said.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
