A KITCHEN was badly damaged in a fire.

Two fire engines from Southsea went to tackle a blaze in Pitcroft Road, North End, at about 12.40pm yesterday.

Crew manager Rob Strowger said: ‘We could not find out how it started.

‘The fire took hold of the worktop and worked its way up to a shelf.’

One hose reel and breathing equipment was used to put out the blaze.

The kitchen was left badly damaged by the heat and smoke.
