Firefighters have been tackling a major blaze in Havant.

They were called to the fire at a house in Leigh Road shortly at 4.44am today, after a fire took hold of the building’s first floor and roof.

Reports say around 20 firefighters were at the scene, with two crews from Havant fire station, and one from both Cosham and Emsworth station, attending.

The house is currently unoccupied, and no-one was hurt as a result of the blaze.

A spokeswoman for Hampshire Fire Service said the fire was put out at around 6.30am, but fire fighters remain at the property to ensure there are no sparks or cinders which could cause a second break-out.

It is not yet known how the fire started.
