IT WAS a day of fireballs, face-painting and fun when Fareham Fire Station threw open its doors earlier this month.
Station commander Paul Coates said thousands of people attended the station’s annual open day.
Among them were young Jacob Beard and Leoni-Rae Gray, above, who got to sit in one of the station’s fire engines.
Mr Coates said: ‘We had demonstrations of how we respond to car accidents and fires and we did a rope rescue.
‘We also had chip pan demonstrations that show how fires start and produce a big fireball.’
A bouncy castle, slides and face-painters were also on hand to keep the kids entertained.
Mr Coates said the open day raised about £1000 for the Fire Fighters Charity, which helps firefighters and their families.
