A large area of the Browndown Ranges in Lee-on-the-Solent has been damaged by a fire.

Three fire engines - two from Gosport and one from Fareham - were called at around 3pm yesterday.

It took more than an hour to dampen down and put out the fire.

Two water cannons were also used to help control and put out the blaze and firefighters used a LandRover vehicle to get to the scene.

Crews from Cosham and Eastleigh assisted firefighters from Gosport and Fareham.

A spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘It is not known how the fire was started.’

No one was injured.
