STAFF at an IT firm have been thanked for helping a firm of city accountants get up and running after a huge fire.

Taylor Made Computer Solutions, in Fareham, manages IT and back-up services for Alliotts, a firm of Chartered Accountants based in Holborn, London.

Businesses including Alliotts were evacuated from the area and left without power after an electrical fire broke out under the pavement at lunchtime on April 1.

The Alliotts’ data is kept in the ‘cloud’ in Taylor Made’s data centre in Hampshire and so was not affected by the blaze or the power outage which meant the accountants were able to continue working.

Alliotts chairman Ian Gibbon sent a note to Taylor Made to thank them.

He said: ‘I am exceedingly relieved our IT servers are in the data centre and not sitting in Kingsway with no power.’

Tim Walker, managing director of Taylor Made Computer Solutions, said: ‘This fire is precisely the kind of scenario our hosted platforms and data centres are designed for.’
