YOUNGSTERS had the chance to meet Postman Pat when he dropped into their story-time session.

Pat and his black-and-white cat Jess made a special appearance at Southsea Library.

The children were on the floor with their parents, listening to a member of the staff reading, when Postman Pat showed up.

They were asked to put their names on a piece of paper and into a box. At the end of the session, Postman Pat drew out one lucky winner of a free ticket for the whole family to come see his show at The Kings Theatre.

Sandra Smith, from The Kings, said: ‘It brings stories alive for children. They were so excited to meet Pat.’

She added: ‘They all came and hugged him.’

The winner was two-and-a-half-year-old Oakley Wellham, who was there with his mum.

Postman Pat Live! It’s Showtime! is at The Kings Theatre on Sunday at 1pm. Tickets are available on the door.
