IT’S set to be a real spectacle as hundreds of red, white, and blue balloons fill the sky at a village fete.

The balloon race will be round off the day for Fishbourne School, Church and Village Fete, which takes place on Saturday, June 23.

Pupils, their families and friends will stage a mass launch of named balloons at 2pm.

Children will track their entries with a large school map of the British Isles which logs every balloon found and returned – to see whose travels the furthest.

The fete has an Olympics theme and villagers are being invited to submit photographs, crafts and cakes with a sports theme.

Entertainment will include a fancy dress parade of sporting stars, dog training display, live music and dance performances.

The fete will be held at Fishbourne CE Primary School from 11.30am to 2.30pm.
