AMAZING Anna Wardley has raised £60,000 for charity after taking on five island swims.

The 37-year-old, of Alverstoke, in Gosport, has given £2,272 to Samaritans in Portsmouth, and £16,288 across its Portsmouth, Sheffield and national branches.

She visited the Portsmouth branch, in London Road, North End, and handed over the cheque to director Mary Noble.

Anna said: ‘I have now raised a grand total of £58,072 through my swimming challenges, of which £16,288 has gone to the Samaritans in memory of my dad, Ralph, who took his own life when I was nine years old.’

Anna has donated to four other charities after her challenge, which ended with her swimming around the Isle of Wight.

For help, call 08457 90 90 90, visit the branch, or e-mail jo@samaritans.org
