FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a bonfire, which had been started at a former park keeper’s lodge.

Crews from Southsea and Cosham were called out just after 10am to the lodge, Northern Parade, North End.

But the fire had been started deliberately to burn waste, as the property is being renovated.

The owner has been given a special number to call for future bonfires that may be started on site.

William Brown, project manager, said: ‘I’m glad people are vigilant to call fire crews.’
