PEOPLE looking to protect their homes from flooding will be able to meet an Environment Agency expert.

The meeting of East Hampshire District Council’s community forum will be held in Rowlands Castle on January 15.

The area is frequently threatened by flooding from the swollen River Lavant or from rising groundwater levels.

At the meeting expert Nigel Sell will explain what individuals and local authorities can do to help reduce the risk.

He said: ‘I will be giving some advice on what people can do and how they should prepare.

‘This is something that has affected Rowlands Castle in the past and it could happen again. People need to be aware of ground water and what they can do about it.

‘How we work with each other to manage the risk is very important. In this area all the agencies work together, including Hampshire County Council, East Hampshire District Council, the parish councils and the flood action group.’

The meeting will be held at St John’s Church Hall, Redhill Road, at 6.30pm.
