A former MP has been recognised for his contribution to synthetic biology.
David Willetts, chair of the British Science Association, will be presented with the award for best UK industry enabler at the first annual Engineering Biology Awards.
The former Havant Conservative MP will travel to San Francisco on November 5 to attend the awards hosted by SynBioBeta, which is one of the leading figures in the synthetic biology field.
The awards will be presented and hosted by Nasa astronaut Catherine Coleman and founder of SynBioBeta John Cumbers.
These awards recognise the spirit of the field and the passion that its practitioners have.
