EIGHT years ago it began as a few games in a field.

But now the Forton Fest has grown into a well-loved mini-music festival that brings the whole community together.

The free event at Forton Park in Gosport on Saturday featured a day of music from local acts such as The Jammers, The Frankie Lewis Band and Dolomite Minor and The Funk Junkies, as well as singers Rachel Harding, Kirsty Rossell and Lacey-Love.

There was also a whole host of stalls, games, a 100-prize raffle, and activities for the kids.

Tammy Kent, 37, helped start the event and is still involved as one of the organisers. She said: ‘Everyone was so positive. It threw it down with rain in the morning when everyone was starting to set up, but they all stayed. The music was brilliant, and everyone was up and dancing, which was great to see at an alcohol-free event. There were so many highlights.’
