A CHARITY store in Fratton has received a top award.

Debra Charity, in Fratton Road, was named charity of the year by Portsmouth’s Victory Indoor Bowls Club.

The charity provides care and support for people who suffer with epidermolysis bullosa, a disease which causes the skin to blister easily.

Members of the bowling club, which meets at Alexandra Park, in Stamshaw, look to organise tournaments and fundraiser events for the worthy cause each year.

Diane Fletcher, Debra Charity shop manager, said: ‘We’re really excited about being named as charity of the year by the Victory Indoor Bowls Club.

‘Money raised by the shop enables Debra to offer specialist care and support to people and families affected by the condition and to search for effective treatments and ultimately a cure for epidermolysis bullosa.’

The shop specialises in selling children’s clothes as well as toys, prams and cots.
