AN all-day fitness festival in Southsea wants to encourage more people to get active.

The Southsea Fitness Festival takes place at Castle Field today and will feature pop-up shops, demonstrations and exhibitions from a range of health and fitness companies.

There will be healthy food on offer as well as live music from local bands.

The free event runs from 9am to 6pm and people can take part in bootcamps, pilates and body combat.

Event organiser Tina Newton said: ‘We want to show that there’s something for everyone, it doesn’t have to be hardcore running.

‘It’s about educating people on which options of physical activity there is available.

‘There will be a lot of community clubs there and the idea is to get the whole family involved and to have fun.

‘It’s the first of its kind incorporating sport with an exhibition.’

Heart of Portsmouth boxers, including European champion Ebonie Jones, will be doing demos.
