IF YOU are an author or a poet and have considered self-publishing then the University of Portsmouth is hosting an event for you.

Three leading voices in the publishing world will talk about independent publishing before opening up a question and answer session.

Tom Sykes, lecturer in creative writing at the university, who will be chairman of the panel, said: ‘There’s never been a better time to consider independent publishing. It is an affordable and realistic option for modern writers.

‘We hope people will find this event useful and inspiring.’

The panel will consist of Mike Manson, owner of Past and Present Press, a Bristol-based publishing house which specialises in the production of local books, and Tessa Ditner, a self-published author.

The event takes place on Wednesday from 6pm in the university’s Portland Building in Portland Street.

Tickets are free, but places need to be pre-booked. Visit eventbrite.co.uk/e/independent-publishing-in-the-digital-age-tickets-12366670043
