LOCAL life in all its glory has been caught on camera for more than 100 years by the first-class photographers of The News.
Many of those pictures, capturing the highs and lows, the triumphs and tragedies, fill thousands of packets on the shelves of our editorial library.
But in The News today, we will start sharing hundreds of them with you as we launch our new Pictures from the Past collector’s series.
Every Saturday over the coming months we will be printing eight pages of photos from stories gone by, many of which will not have appeared in print since they first graced the pages of this newspaper.
We will be taking our pictorial stroll down memory lane in alphabetical order, with the first edition tomorrow containing a wide range of subjects under the letter A, from air raids and accidents to animals and allotments.
Buy The News today for the first in the series of our collection.
