MASONS decided to dig deep and help out a charity in need.

Freemasons from the Wayfarers’ Lodge in Cosham donated £1,100 to the Rainbow Centre in Fareham. The centre offers cognitive therapy to children with cerebral palsy and adults with MS, Parkinson’s disease, adult cerebral palsy or head injuries or who have suffered a stroke.

Immediate past master Colin Gittins said his group were inspired to make the donation after seeing the Rainbow Centre was in financial difficulty in the news last year.

A fundraising fayre was held at the masonic centre with proceeds going to the charity.

Mr Gittins, who was the worshipful master last year, said: ‘When we went to give them the cheque, we were blown away by the work they do. We knew we had picked the right charity.’
