FASHIONISTAS at the University of Portsmouth turned ‘rag bags’ into trendy outfits to raise money for the Rowans Hospice.

About a dozen creative students gave up a day of their time to produce more than 50 glamorous garments out of lacklustre outfits.

And they became so involved in their work they’ve decided to custom-make even more items which will be showcased at a fashion show later this month where people can buy the clothes.

The remaining items will then be sold in the Rowans Hospice charity shops.

Vicki Lamberton, 20, said: ‘It’s been a challenge because we had to work with what was available but it meant we had to be inventive. It was a chance to demonstrate our skills and maybe see one of our creations on the catwalk.’
