AN EXCITING event is set to launch National Bike Week.

Southsea Skate Park, on Clarence Esplanade, will be hosting a fun day to mark the start of National Bike Week on June 15.

Activities will be available for the family to enjoy, from 11am until 4pm, including a forest track, BMX displays and the chance to make a smoothie using pedals.

Portsmouth City Council and My Journey have been organising the events.

Councillor Jason Fazackarley, cabinet member for transport and environment said: ‘Cycling is a great way of getting around. It gets you fit and saves you money.

‘You can get to most places in Portsmouth by bike as it’s mostly flat and there are some good cycle routes, quieter roads and cycle parking.’
