A FUNDRAISER for a man’s wheelchair has been cancelled.

Fareham Lions Club was planning to raise funds at the town’s Tesco superstore on Saturday to help pay for 24-year-old Michael Powell’s new equipment.

But the fundraiser has had to be called off because other events are taking place
there.

Mr Powell, from Portchester, has cerebral palsy and is paying off a new £13,000 ‘Genie Standing’ wheelchair, which allows him to stand.

Club president Christine Asquith said the Fareham Lions Santa Sleigh would be at the music podium in West Street, Fareham today from 4.30pm to 7pm. Anyone who wants to donate to the Lions club appeal can find out more by calling 01329 235 35 or e-mail ernie.howard@ntlworld.com.
