THE latest fundraising scheme in memory of a fallen Marine has been revealed – and it’s a dog’s dinner.
Marine Richard Hollington, from Petersfield, died aged 23 in a bomb blast in Helmand, Afghanistan, in June 2010.
His family has since raised more than £200,000 for Help for Heroes in his name.
Some of the fundraising events have included a 24-hour 100-mile trek across the South Downs and last year’s inaugural Heroes Day in October.
The next event is over the weekend of September 14 and 15 and will raise money for Hounds for Heroes. The charity, based in Petersfield, trains assistance dogs for anyone in a public service job injured in the line of duty.
Mne Hollington’s father Robin is encouraging people across the country to hold dinner parties, turn their homes into restaurants for the night, or invite a gang of friends round for pizza and a film.
Everyone taking part donates cash to go towards the charity.
