THE funeral of a respected alderman and former mayor is to take place next week.

The civic funeral for Alderman Ernest Crouch will take place at Holy Trinity Church, Fareham, at 1.30pm on Tuesday, November 26.

Mr Crouch was a well-respected borough councillor, representing Portchester West from 1979 until 1995 and 1996 until 2010, during which time he also served as mayor of Fareham in 1990/1991 and 2008/2009.

Mr Crouch died on Wednesday, November 13, aged 86.

His family has asked for only family flowers at the funeral, and any donations to be made to The Rowans Hospice, c/o the funeral directors, M Coghlan Ltd, Westbury Road, Fareham.

His family would like to thank everyone for their messages of support, with special thanks going to The Rowans Hospice.
