Garage worker injured by car in Havant

The traffic lights junction at Unicorn Road, Landport, Portsmouth, looking north towards Unicorn Gate, at the juction with Alfred Road and Market Way. The lights give a long wait at red, then only 15-seconds at green. Vehicles and motorists often have to wait two changes, causing anger and delays for drivers.

A MAN has been taken to hospital after he was injured in an industrial accident in Havant

Police and fire services were called to Kwik Fit in New Road, Havant, at 8.48am today after the car he was working on fell onto a garage worker.

The man, who is in his 20s, has been taken to hospital suffering with a broken leg but does not have any life threatening injuries.

The road was blocked off for a short period of time to allow an air ambulance to land but it was re-opened after it was decided to take the casualty to hospital by road.

A crew from Havant fire station were called to the scene to assist paramedics in moving the man, and to make the scene safe.

Police are at the scene now investigating what happened.

A spokeswoman for the South Central Ambulance Service, said: ‘We received a call about a car that had fallen on a man.

‘He was a male in his 20s and he was suffering from leg injuries. He was taken by land ambulance to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham.’
