A FANCY-DRESS disco will raise money for a cancer charity.
Gerry Drabble, of Hill Head, is organising the disco on Saturday, May 17 to raise money for the Harbour Cancer Support Centre in Gosport.
Mr Drabble said there would be prizes for the best adult and children’s fancy dress as well as raffle.
He said: ‘The idea is to have a good, fun night and raise money.’
Mr Drabble, whose wife Becki died of cancer, said all proceeds would be given to the centre.
He said: ‘They’re a very little charity and they gave me a lot of great support after my wife died.
‘They offer everything in terms of support for cancer sufferers and their friends and families.’
Mr Drabble called for businesses and groups to donate goods or services which could be raffled off at the disco.
He said: ‘It doesn’t matter how big or small or common or unique, they’ll all help this worthy centre do its work.’
Mr Drabble said gifts already donated included family tickets to the Explosion Museum of Naval Firepower and the Royal Marines Museum. He said there were also tickets to the Longdown Activity Farm in the New Forest to be won.
Mr Drabble said he was also looking for a DJ to play for free or at a reduced rate to liven up the party.
Becki was diagnosed with cancer in 2008. She died just four days after the couple had marked their 17th wedding anniversary.
The disco will be at the Bugle Hotel in Titchfield and will start at 7pm.
Entry will cost £10 for adults and £7 for children over five years old. Tickets must be bought in advance.
The price includes a buffet and entry into a grand draw at the end of the evening.
