A COUNTY-WIDE campaign to increase public awareness of the benefits of recycling to residents has been given the go-ahead to continue by the majority of local authorities in Hampshire.

The Recycle for Hampshire campaign is to increase the amount of materials recycled by residents.

Officers from the campaign hold a series of sessions, workshops and assemblies to primary and secondary school children to help them understand the issues, and to encourage their families to recycle more.

Hampshire is one of the best-performing counties for keeping waste out of landfill, with around 93 per cent diverted last year.
