ORGANISERS of a festival want local residents to get on the water in Gosport this Sunday.

GoWaterSport Festival will take place at 9.30am to 4.30pm, at the Royal Clarence Marina, in Gosport.

It has been organised by the recently-formed Gosport Marine Scene, which wants to showcase the town’s marine assets.

Around 200 taster sessions will be available for people to enjoy family-friendly activities on the water and on shore.

Activities include dinghy sailing, kayaking and others.

Local clubs and facilities will also be on show to encourage families and teenagers on to the water.

Abby Thomson, who runs Gosport Marine Scene said: ‘We are proud and amazed we have managed to organise this event, which should have cost tens of thousands of pounds to host, for as little as a few hundred pounds.

‘It shows the commitment and passion the whole Gosport Marine Scene network has for the area.’
