Have your say

THE time of year has come again for all you keen photographers to show off some of your skills.

We would like you to get your cameras out and snap away on August 29 to be in with a chance of winning The News’ One Summer’s Day competition.

With a busy Bank Holiday ahead, there are a lot of events and exciting days out where you can take some fantastic pictures.

Whether you’re relaxing at the beach, (hopefully) soaking up the summer sun in the garden with family or enjoying the sights of the south with your friends, we want to see it.

You could be spending the day rocking out at the Victorious Festival on Southsea seafront, visiting Portsmouth Historic Dockyard or having a relaxing barbecue.

As long as your shot reflects a typical summer’s day, it will be considered for the prize.

Lisa Rhodes, of Bay Road, in Gosport, won last year’s competition after sending in a picture of her daughter Lola with big, static hair from jumping on the trampoline.

Lisa said: ‘The picture just came around by accident.

‘Lola was doing somersaults on the trampoline and her hair got really static.

‘The more she did, the bigger her hair got. So we decided to get a picture and send it in.’

Sarah Standing, chief photographer at The News, said: ‘We want as many of you to get involved in possible.

‘It doesn’t matter what you’re doing or where you are, just make sure you’ve got your camera or phone with you so you don’t miss the perfect moment.

‘Last year’s winner just goes to show that it could be something unexpected that end up winning the prize.

‘So make sure you’re in with a chance and get your entry in.’
